Terms and Conditions
1. General
a. These are the Terms and Conditions of lipreadingclass.co.uk.
b. 'The Student' will be the individual, organisation, group, or business that has requested Services from lipreadingclass.co.uk.
c. The 'Services' will include but are not limited to lipreading and hearing loss management classes, workshops, and support.
d. The 'Fee' is the charge for the provision of the Services.
e. All lessons and classes are delivered in spoken English. British Sign Language (BSL) is not used in the delivery of any Services provided by lipreadingclass.co.uk.
f. A contract is formed when the Student's enrolment is confirmed by email. If an enrolment cannot be accepted, any payment made will be refunded, subject to an administration fee where unavoidable.
2. Current Services Supplied

- Lipreading and hearing loss management classes organised by other organisations
- One-to-one classes, training, and support
- Workshops for groups, organisations, and businesses
- Workshops for groups, organisations and businesses organised by other organisations and businesses - Talks to community groups, not-for-profit organisations, and charities
3. Delivery of Classes
a. Services will be delivered in a format agreed by lipreadingclass.co.uk, and by whatever means are considered most appropriate. Their decision is final.
b. Classes require a minimum of six attendees to go ahead. The maximum number for online classes is ten.
c. Classes are usually delivered in blocks, each covering a set number of weeks and themed content. The number of weeks will be confirmed prior to the start of each block.
d. Students are expected to attend on a regular, set day each week.
f. If a swap cannot be arranged, the missed session and content will be lost until the material is repeated in a future cycle.
g. Online classes typically last 90 minutes. Private one-to-one lessons are usually one hour.
4. One-to-One Services
a. The duration and number of sessions will be agreed in advance. lipreadingclass.co.uk reserves the right to make professional changes to achieve the best outcomes.
b. Students will be advised of the Fee, payment method, and session frequency in advance.
c. Content will be agreed with the Student, but the final decision rests with lipreadingclass.co.uk.
d. Any concerns should be raised promptly so they can be addressed.
e. A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule a one-to-one session.
f. If less than 24 hours' notice is given, the full fee is payable unless otherwise agreed by the tutor.
5. Workshops
a. Workshops are delivered to individuals or groups to increase understanding of hearing loss and to provide deaf awareness training.
b. Brand guidelines can be provided on request for publicity purposes.
c. Workshop content will be discussed with the Student, but final content is at the discretion of lipreadingclass.co.uk.
d. Workshops may be delivered online or in person, depending on the arrangement made with the Student or organisation.
7. The Fee
a. Fees for classes are payable in full at the start of a block, or pro rata if joining mid-block.
b. Room hire is not included in face-to-face class fees (does not apply to Zoom classes). Arrangements and payments will be discussed in advance.
c. Refreshments are not included in any fee.
d. Fees for one-to-one sessions and workshops are agreed in advance with the Student.
e. Invoices must be paid prior to the start of any session, unless agreed otherwise.
f. Payment can be made via bank transfer, PayPal, or cash.
g. Any charges incurred due to the Student's chosen payment method will be payable by the Student.
h. Late payments are subject to interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate, plus reasonable debt recovery costs.
8. Refunds and Cancellations
a. Refunds are not offered except at the sole discretion of lipreading classes UK.
b. Students are responsible for attending their sessions. Missed sessions are not eligible for refund or rescheduling.
c. If the tutor cannot attend, a replacement session will be added or a substitute tutor provided.
d. No refund is given if the Student cannot attend for any reason.
e. This policy applies to all services unless otherwise agreed in writing.
9. Overseas Students
a. Classes are primarily intended for UK residents.
b. Overseas students may be accepted at the tutor's discretion.
c. All classes are delivered in English. Students must have a sufficient level of both spoken and written English.
d. No refunds are given if a student is unable to participate due to language or technology difficulties.
10. Responsibilities of the Student
a. Students must be able to use Zoom to an appropriate level, enabling them to join and participate in the classroom independently.
b. Students must provide full and accurate information when requested.
c. Any relevant medical or access needs must be disclosed. Students must also inform the tutor of their type and level of hearing loss before the classes begin.
d. All problems or concerns should be raised as soon as possible.
e. Services are delivered in English. Students must have an adequate understanding of the English language.
f. Students who are unsure of their English level should enquire before enrolling.
g. Students are responsible for ensuring their hearing technology is working and correctly set up prior to and during any session.
11. Appropriate Behaviour in the Online Classroom
a. Students are expected to behave respectfully at all times.
b. Disruptive behaviour, inappropriate language, or misuse of the platform will not be tolerated.
c. Harassment, bullying, or offensive conduct may result in immediate removal.
d. Students must not record sessions without prior consent.
e. lipreadingclass.co.uk reserves the right to remove students from sessions to protect the wellbeing of others.
12. Complaints and Feedback
a. Students may submit complaints or feedback in writing.
b. Complaints will be acknowledged within 5 working days.
c. A full response will be provided within 20 working days.
12A. Digital Privacy
a. lipreadingclass.co.uk is committed to respecting students' digital privacy. Any personal data provided for the purpose of booking, enrolment, or participation in online classes will be handled in accordance with relevant UK data protection legislation.
b. Online classes are delivered using third-party platforms such as Zoom. Students are responsible for familiarising themselves with the privacy settings of these platforms.
c. Sessions must not be recorded, saved, or distributed without the express permission of the tutor and all participants.
14. Intellectual Property
a. All materials provided by lipreadingclass.co.uk, whether digital or printed, remain the intellectual property of the tutor.
b. These materials are provided solely for the personal use of the Student and must not be copied, shared, reproduced, or distributed without explicit written permission.
c. This includes, but is not limited to, lesson plans, handouts, recordings, slides, and any supplementary resources.
15. Accessibility and Reasonable Adjustments
a. lipreadingclass.co.uk aims to provide an inclusive learning environment and will consider reasonable adjustments for students with disabilities or access needs.
b. Students are encouraged to contact the tutor in advance of the course start date to discuss any specific requirements.
c. While all reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate adjustments, provision may depend on available resources and the nature of the request.
16. Contact and Communication
a. General enquiries, feedback, or concerns should be sent via email to the address provided on the lipreadingclass.co.uk website.
b. While every effort will be made to respond promptly, please allow up to 3-5 working days for a reply.
c. Communication regarding session changes, cancellations, or adjustments should also be made in writing (email preferred) to ensure clear record keeping.
17. Changes to Terms and Conditions
a. lipreadingclass.co.uk reserves the right to update or amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time.
b. Where changes are significant, reasonable notice will be given to students before the changes take effect.
c. Continued participation in the Services after changes have been communicated will be deemed as acceptance of the updated Terms.
18. Legal
a. These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
b. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
